Quadrant Model of Aligned Engagement
The Quadrant Model of Aligned Engagement explains how everyday activities differ in the degree to which they feel both absorbing and personally meaningful. The model integrates insights from flow theory and eudaimonic identity theory, proposing that a distinct form of experience (aligned engagement) arises when focused attention and identity alignment occur together. Research using experience sampling methods suggests that these moments that are high in both flow and personal expressiveness are associated with the most positive experiences and may play an important role in how individuals experience repeated positive engagement in everyday life.
